MashMeisterDebut
The first track on X*M*A*S*H and my first completed Mashup.
I was inspired by Girl Talk and the album Feed the Animals, which a friend had passed off to me a couple weeks before. The Girl Talk album was revolutionary in that it bypassed the old and stale X Band vs. Y Band mashups that had preceded it and moved the art form forward, creating new music and personal experiences that tapped into familiar musical memories. MashMeisterDebut was my first step into how Gregg Michael Gillis was able to weave different artists together to create something new.
Needless to say, I, MashMeisterD took it a step further. My musical art is denser and fills the sonic space fully, often with divergent genres (as a commentary on popular music itself), with stark and sometimes rapid changes of mood and style. Everything is familiar, but everything you will hear is new as well. The mashup art form, creating a collage in the sonic sphere, is just beginning.
